I have a compressor on my forward control, although it is 4 cylinder industrial type driven by V belts. I have also seen little PTO compressors and pumps for boom and blackberry sprays which slide onto the PTO output spline of tractors and also the ones of Land Rovers.

Have never seen a close coupled one on the PTO output of the gearbox, but wouldn't doubt that they exist.

Be great in the desert or on the beach for pumping up tyres.

Best you compare the 6 holes to the rear housing of the series gearbox.

Hi there

I have a compressor attachment for the rear PTO drive of the rear of the landrover.

I will post pictures over the next couple of day. Its a simular unit they sold for the rear of tractors driving from the PTO and uses a piece of chain to stabilise.

That ain't no Landrover part. Looks like a fitting that are sometimes fitted to various truck engines to provide air for the brake systems.

yep good point if it was landrover it would more than likely have a part number on it

Looks a bit like a Ford Blitz tyre inflation compressor. If not, it's very similar.

What was the air compressor on the later GMC DUKW like?

That was selectable, unlike the ones for air brakes.
