    Intermittent fault on tailgate release

Just wondering if this is a common problem....under warranty, so going to the dealers as soon as we can book it in, but bloody annoying in the meantime. Sometimes, you push the rubber button and hear nothing, other times, you get the click and the remote lock releases as usual. Am guessing it's a dodgy connection or failing solenoid, but just wondered if anyone else had had it??

I seem plagued...had tailgate issues on my D1, D2 and now the D3. I reckon the wife is overusing it with all the shopping.

    Jik22,

If you mean the upper tailgate button (i.e the one outside). It might be faulty. The switch is a very small microswitch and doesn't look that robust to me. Don't go trying to pull the rubber cover off unless you really want to have a look because most likely you'll break the plastic clips inside (I speak from experience).

    See your dealer.

Yep, that's the one. It's intermittent, so will doubtless be yet another bout of fun discussions with the dealer as I'm sure it will work faultlessly while there.

Well, the tailgate release seems to have fixed itself, but now the reversing sensors seems to beep all the time it's in reverse gear. It either didn't like the dust, or me washing it off afterwards, from the recent Cape Richie trip!
