Dont forget Roversnorth in USA they list much military bits for S2,3 among a mob of other stuff no S1 bits though so no good here

There is a guy in Melbourne who will make up canvas hoods for the series 1. I believe that he used to make them for Regent Motors and most definately did them for Four Wheel Drives. Numpty's Missus has one of his hoods. You need to ask around for his contact details.

Regarding hood sticks, some of you may know Mike Bishop or Ian Duddy. On an occasional basis they do batches of reproduction hood sticks for the 80". They would have to be around the $300.00 mark by now.

Regarding any of the hood sticks, it is possible to make them yourself. The material to get is 1" galvanised electrical conduit. (Or get black and weld in the fittings for the 86/88/107/109 then have them galvanised. The patterns are on the Series one garage.

I recently made my own set of hood sticks for a 1950 80" . I used 1" galv. water pipe and 1/2" X 1/16" tubing for the 4 side stays .

The water pipe is somewhat difficult to bend , but I managed to do it OK using an old gate corner as a former . I made a simple die to squash the side stay ends down, then shaped them in a vice using a short length of pipe .

The result looks good to me , but the 'rivet counters' would no doubt have a go at it . Cost of the material was about $35 at the local steel merchant .

Mike yes the water pipe is an option, however the walls are quite a lot thicker and heavier than the original and if not secured properly tend to hammer the bottom of the hole.

It is also very difficult to press the dimple where the horizontal stays fix and then water pipe is easy to pick. However in the absence of the originals or replicas made out of similar material, what ever works fo you is O.K.
