    Which is the best??

I am thinking about getting a second hand county/110/defender

But I have a problem that being I dont know which is the strongest built year model?

I know this is a subjective question but I am looking for the one with the strongest drivetrain engine combination. I'm thinking the 3.9 Isuzu diesel is probably at the top of my list at this stage.

    Any sugestions??

    Cheers Blythe

    That is Being Bias.....

    But having said that...

The 110 up to 88 IE County is the strongest driveline.

The isuzu is the only Diesel option., so yeah its better..

But the V8 leaves you the chance to build it into a 4.6.....

Or you could turbo the Isuzu..

I have a V8 in the Disco for play, no I want a bomb proof reliable vehicle, I will put lockers and winch on it because of where I live and want to get to of course. so Clarky is that a 1988 County with the 3.9 your talking about? and yes putting a puffer on it could be an option.

I remember the Australian army ones in the 80's doing bloody rings around the hummers up here in the NT during the war games that they had.

the isuzu is more reliable and much more capable offroad (tractor-like)

Most will tell you that would have to be the Isuzu/LT95 combo (which is a great combo btw). I prefer the V8/LT95 combo. More options for more power and cheaper to buy/repair.

And you cant beat the sound of a rover V8 at full noise.

To claim an Isuzu is more capable than a V8 in a 110 is very Bias.

Both have their own benifits... the V8 revs, so you can hold a gear for longer on a climb, the Isuzu has more torque (i think) so it will be better at engine braking....

If you want a good strong 4wd then the County in either config is good...

Mind you, a 300tdi is great and driveline strength is so minimal its not worth worrying about... and you get 4 wheel disc breaks on the 94 onwards 110.

the strongest build is the 3.5v8 pushing the lt95. if you drive it nice usually nothing south of the clutch (not including the clutch) will break till you start working the engine up.

IME the isuzu only averages about 300K Km per gearbox bearing set.

however IMHO the best setup is the isuzu 3.9 on the 4 speed lt95 is the ticket as it gets better range and is more suited to low speed work.

Ok, as strong and reliable factors, County is first by the previous comments.
The Defender 130 Crew Cab Tdi 300 would be second choice ?

no for pure strength the 110 deefer is stronger than the 130 but you cant use it as its very rarely set up for it... if you work a 130 too near its limits for too long it will break itself. ask vlad about tray mounts....
