I should have the brackets somewhere - PM me if you don't get any locally, although they are not much to post.

G'day All, I have all those parts and some! if you need them, smart looking LHD Land Rover you have there cheers Dennis
PS I hope you replaced the 4 x 3/16" blind rivets at the front section of both guards as they tend to suffer badly from electrolysis and do let go and thats a shame after you have the top coat of paint on, anyway cheers.

    Hi all...

APOLOGIES, the LR in the picture is not mine, it is the one on www.roverhaul.com , I think somewhere in Canada, just put it up to show the "brackets". I am going for the same colour though but definitely not that level of perfection. I am happy if it is 60% of that.

It seems like I am getting the hinge from Wannalandy/Mick, thanks for that. After getting a couple from lro11 (thanks Darren) I decided to change all hinges to Series 2 as they can be overhauled. My Series 3 hinges are just too loose. Purists, pls forgive me.

I am still looking for those brackets, I will PM you guys.

Again, (unfortunately) not my LR, sorry to disappoint...

    Cheers,

    Thomas

G'day All, Mate you cannot use Series 2/2A hinges on a Series 3. The hinge mounting point is different, the Series 2/2A had a sliding plate behind the 'A' pillar, the Series 3 had "speed nuts" for the want of a better description, and part of them stand proud of the 'A' pillar, the back of the Series 3 hinge is hollow to accept this, the Series 2/2A are flat and will not sit square if you follow what I mean, hope that is of some help cheers Dennis

    Hi Dinty,

I think I know what you mean, thanks for that, I will take a look tomorrow, I may have to fabricate something.

G'day All, Mate I will knock off the rivets holding those 2 lugs for you tomorrow and hopefully post them to you on Monday cheers mate Dennis
PS You could repair the Series 3 door hinge by knocking out the pin and making the hole oversize and then fit a Selloc roll pin, I'm certain it would fix the problem, anyone else got any ideas??.

    Hi Dinty,

thanks again. I had a look at it just now and you are absolutely correct.

There is a simple workaround though by just copying the 2a design. I made up a sliding plate like you suggested and I can slip it through the opening where the "speed nuts" go. I used a thick plate and tapped a thread into it. It's a little fiddly to put in but seems to do the trick.

Thank god you mentioned that now so I can prepare those parts!

Let me know what you want for those brackets.

    Cheers,

    Thomas
