    Spider eating dog!

Hmmm, I sprayed one of the millions of spiders in my house last night, and it seemed to have vanished. I just assumed that it had run away to hide and die.

Well, tonight I've worked out what's going on... I think. Feed Simba, my faithful friend some left over deserts and bingo, there vanishes another dead spider! It seems that Simba has taken to eating spiders!!!

Well, she's just curled up for a sleep now. Fingers crossed that she doesn't need the defibrillators in the morning. Please tell me that dead spiders are not doggie toxic.
    Cheers

The spider ipse is not dangerously toxic to dogs. If the spider was carrying pyrethrum when it died, which if it was sprayed would most likely be the cause of death, then traces of the pyrethrum may enter the dog. But its toxicity is very low and shouldn't present a hazard.

If the base was anything other than pyrethrum, then the level of toxicity may be greater and might be a cause for concern. So work out what insecticide it is first.

Like the brave dog she it, she'll chase down a cat with all of the bravado that an old Samoyed can muster... right up until the cat pulls up and calls her bluff. Then poor old simba doesn't know what to do, so she gets as close as she dares..... and just stares at the cat.

    Thanks for this Joel,

The spider was sprayed with Mortein.

The active constituants areBioallethrin and Bioresmethrin. I'm not really sure what exactly they are.

I'm jusst watching her at the moment and shes half sleeping, but still moving around a bit. I'm sort of hoping that at worst she might get a bit of a stomach ache or a vomit.
    Cheers

You do realise the thread topic implys that a dog is being eaten by a spider...

Im sure the pooch will be fine, there tough buggers. I shiit bricks when my dog ate a dead mouse. I had baited the house whilst on holidays (the pooch was visiting at his grandparents) and thought i had disposed of all the dead rodents but i missed one

    luckily hes was fine.....

Unfortunatly the 2 cats (and counting) that he has "disposed" of wherent so lucky......

    Sleep easy...

    Bioresmethrin LD50 >3000mg/kg.
    Allethrin LD50 1100 mg/kg.

I'm guessing a dog like that weighs at least 35 kg, it'd take a **** load to be life threatening.
