Dusted of the tool kit finally......

That's right......after months of only owning reliable japanese cars that need no maintenance performed; I once again have a Land Rover in my garage, and my tool kit is once again feeling loved.

The search is finally over......I'm now the proud owner of a 99 Discovery II V8 Auto. It's champaigne in colour with 16" alloys, and also has SLS and ACE. Apart from the that it's very stock, still has the road tyres on.

It'll be staying unmodified for the time being, so no tough trips for me.....But I'll be out watching the rest of you break things though.

I'll post some pics once I've given it the once over.......I'm just enjoying the comfortable driving......so much nicer to drive than my old D1.

So now I'm really back in the club.

    Cheers
    Paul

Thanks Mick....you don't have a spare air spring do you. Mine has a leak already
It's should be getting fixed by the dealer as soon as they get back to me.

It needs a bit of a tidy up, and a good service to make sure everything is ok. Has a few strange noises which I'm still try to find the source of.
Maybe a nice loud exhaust will be the cure.

Sounds like a decent rig Paul, you got a V8 too which is even better

Re- Tough trips. One you get a taste, you can't shake it. I've found that going back to a stocker has that drawback

Yeah, I don't know enough about these complex diesel motors....thought I'd stick with the simple old V8. (not that any engine is simple anymore)

Trav, you are probably right about the tough trips.....once I start 4wding again, I'm sure I'll want to try the harder stuff.
Then I'll break something....and have to modify that piece.....then the same will happen to something else, and before you know it I'll have a lifted, locked beast with mud tyres and a winch again.

Sorry Craig, I only have a set of 2" OME springs but no air bags........got a steering dampner, full set of standard axles, cv's, CWP's, etc etc.......let me know if you do need anything when it comes time to modify as I have a bit of stuff.....compulsive spender I am

That's the nature of the beast, fix it, repair it and then upgrade when it suits and/or can afford it. I find that the fun part of owning a Land Rover.

Plus it doesn't have to be the cost of a small mortage if you don't want it to.
