    FL2 Petrol economy

I've got a loan FL2 petrol today (2590km on the clock) as the D3's getting serviced. I was surprised to see the fuel economy for around town is the same as what I'm getting in my D3 V6 SE.

I got FL2 petrol loaner too.
Thought it had hole in the fuel tank.
    Especially after the TDV6.
Fuel light comes on suddenly too.
Dealer said the feedback they had was about poor fuel economy.

Mark was it a White SE from Southside sevice? Because I had one last week with similar kms on the clock.

Therefore the poor economy can be blamed on me .

The petrol has a lot of go but lacks the torquey goodness of the Td4. My FL2 just rattles a bit harder when you go up hills.

Unfortunately, the current 3.2 Freelander reminds me too much of the old 2.5 V6.
Too many revs to get it going & it can never make up it's mind which gear it wants to use .

I've always found it amusing that LR seems to make petrol vehicles that are real gas guzzlers while their diesels are some of the most frugal on the market.

My bad The fuel economy will come down eventually.

Any time I drive the D3 Dad reckons the fuel economy doubles.

This would be the poor vehicle that has now been driven by both me and Mark.... how much can one car take?

I did like it though. Lots of room (and I'm a big bloke), well laid out and a 6 spd box. Much nicer than my Forester but then a lot more expensive of course. I believe there's a diesel forester coming later this year which will make it an attractive buy, especially in manual with lo range.

The Suzuki Grand Vitara is now in a Turbo Diesel for a tad over $30K - dual range.

Again, for sure the Freelander is a better car but is it $20-25K better and doesn't have low range.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the FL2 is the cheapest 4WD diesel with a 5 star crash rating on the market in Australia today. If you want to do some off roading, may I go as far to say as class leading off road performance, and also keep your family safe while not using buckets of fuel it is good value for money.
