    Series One water pump kits

    Hi there all

Just in the process of re-birthing a couple of spare water pumps - and can not justify the price of a new one.

There only a shaft - impellor and mechanical seal - can anyone help with a company whom may be able to provide the kits.

    Thanks in advance

    Wayne,
As a suggestion, disassemble one and take the shaft assembly (impeller presses off) and seal into your local bearing specialist and see if they can come up with replacements, even if they need, for example, reboring or bushing the impeller and fan hub. Even the impeller may be replaceable by another one. Likely candidates would be ones for any contemporary British engines such as Vanguard or Ferguson etc.

    Hi there

I didnt think of easo - as he is heading over to the UK shortly.

As for other kits - a fergy tractor ones are $35.00 same shaft but have more rotors on the impellors (dont think that will be a mjor issue) - the seal is a slightly loose in the housing, might work but would preferr a bigger seal.

Its a lot of headaches but a new water pump range from $300 - $400 where a kits is around the $40 mark - hense my reason for trying a retrofit........

JDNSW - will do a trip to our local auto place tomorrow - and try and source a seal......thanks again

    All the best

Wayne, I would try a bearing specialist rather than an auto specialist, although both are worth a try. The bearing specialist is more likely to be able to look for something by dimensions, where the auto place is more likely to only be able to look by model, but if they have someone very experienced he may know straight off what works.
