2a door rubbers

I'm getting close to putting new door rubbers on the 2a and can't decide which way to go . Do i get originals or aftermarket rubbers from clarke rubber ? With the aftermarket rubbers do they need to be riveted in or are they a glue in unit ? At least with rivets you know it's going to stay there .

Look up the old newsletters in the files section. Incisor wrote an article about replacing the door seals in one of the early ones.

I haven't got any recently, but last ones I saw at Clark Rubber were the rivet in type (you supply the metal strip) but the hole for the metal strip was slightly narrower than the original.

I use the earlier type of door seal rubber on my 2a, that is the 3/8 x 3/4 inch foam (10mm x 19mm) from Clark Rubber, it sits in the groove and allows the door to shut and sit neatly and does not buldge out of the panel gap, you can buy it by the metre and it fits front, top, and rear channels The rectangaluar rubber was standard up until the Leyland years when they changed to the truck type of sealing with the metal strip riveted.

I am inclined to doubt this - the riveted type is the only one shown in my 2a parts book, and was fitted to both my 1958 Series 2 and 1961 2a in the early sixties, before the Leyland merger had even been thought of.

I just bought a length from FWD's in Melb (some time ago) and pushed it in place. Been there since and its not going anywhere
