    110 TD5 - Coolant loss

    Hi All,

I have just noticed that I am loosing about 500ml of coolant every couple hundred KMs. I am not experiencing any overheating or power loss. Where should I start looking?

    Thankyou,

Bruce, I'm not an expert but I'd be starting looking for leaks. Keep a **real** close eye on it though as it could be more sinister.

What year/mileage is it? There were some known issues but they mostly affected early td5's. At 500ml of coolant per 200k that's a big leak.

ID be panicing IF I was using that much coolant.

first place to check is every single joint between any hose/pipe and fitting then the cap of the tank.

I have just bought her so it could be that it wasnt filled when I got her. (bit daft of me not to check).

I filled her and have done about 200kms in traffic and open roads and have checked the level and it hasnt dropped at all. I guess I will have to just keep an eye on it and see if it does actually drop now.

that being the case it sounds like Its dropping to just below (bout an inch or so) the seem of the tank. If thats the case thats normal.

Assuming you fill the tank to the full mark and bleed the system and refill it to the full mark, why does it go down an inch? Where does it go assuming there isnt a leak. I ask this because mine is staying at the full mark after i flushed mine a couple weeks ago.
