    Fuel for thoughts

We left Hobart on the 26 in the morning with 60 liters of fuel in the tank and we used this amount on the trip to Devonport and then from the ferry terminal to Chelsea Heights, about 32 km by the gps.
We put on the tank about 55 liters on a Caltex/Woolworth service station and we drove to Holbrook. Distance 429 km . At Holb rook we filled on a Mobil garage and we used all the fuel up to Yass 217 km !!!!! The car was gutless!
From Yass after filling another $80.00 (about 52 liters) we managed to drive to Bradbury, NSW 226 km and we used about 40 liters The car was gutless.
On Narelan , NSW we filled the tank on a Caltex/Woolworth service station and we drive up to Woolgoolga. Distance 610 km with 80 liters of fuel. The car performed very well with plenty power. Used 7.62 per lt of fuel.
We filled on a Shell/Coles and then our next stop for fuel was near Nambour on the highway Distance 475 Km. We used 58 liters (average 8.18 Km x Lt
There we filled in on an independent station and the car lost power and drank 70 lts to Moore Park Beach !
I have driven all the trip at not more of 95 kmp and at an average of 2000 rpm towing a trailer with total weight about a ton.
Appears that if you like to use real fuel the Caltex and Shell stations owned by supermarkets is the way to go.

Tend to agree with this. I have usually stuck with Shell in Kalgoorlie and occasionally BP. But on recent trips to Perth, many of the BP stations sell only a "Premium" version of diesel (think they call it Ultima) at hugely inflated prices. All this BP product affects is the hip pocket - definitely makes no difference to the performance of the car. So I've stopped going to BP as it's a rip off.

Last Sunday, I filled up at a Caltex in Fremantle and drove to Kalgoorlie (about 630 km). Sat on about 120 - 125 km/hr on the cruise control most of the way. Filled up at the Shell in Boulder the next morning - 62 litres.

Tomorrow morning I'll top up again at the Shell in Boulder and then head off back down to Fremantle - be interesting to see if there's any significant difference.
    Cheers .........

Seems like the fuel they sell matches the food, well close it just empties your guts.

Arthur, can you give us the actual fuel consumption figures for each fill, e.g.,

    Mobil---- x km-----y litres -----z l/100km
    Shell---- etc.

I hear a lot of people say this brand of LPG (in my case) is crap, this brand is OK.

I must track my consumption against brands one day. I usually fill at Shell or Caltex as they are the closest servos to me. But I could try Mobil, they are next closest.
