    indicator trailer thingy

since connecting the front indicators on the ARB bull bar the trailer indicator picture now also flashes, is it something I have to live with or is there a way to trick the system into thinking they are not connected?
One thought was led globes ?
    Cheers

on mine, the little trailer icon flashes once when the indicator is first put on and it didnt change when I fitted the bullbar...still does it

is your trailer icon flashing all the time when the indicator is on? or just the first time?

its a pain but I have learnt to live with it, I find the audible chime more annoying when the door is open and the keys are in the ignition

The BCU sences the current used in the indicator circuit to determine if a trailer is connected. To fix this you can just swap out the globes in the bullbar for 5w or 10w globes and this will solve the problem.

thats interesting. i bought mine with the stock bumper fitted ie no front indicators in the bar and then I fitted the bullbar with an extra bulb in each side and all was good. Then later I took the rear bar off which had a second rear blinker/tail light as it was bent. From that point on, the indicators would flash very very fast as the circuit was missing a bulb from the rear, but I would have thought that the extra front bulb (in the new bullbar) would have compensated for it, but didnt.

I ended up putting the rear bulbs back into the plugs and painting the bulbs black and tucked them up under the body so you couldnt see them flashing at night just to keep the circuit 'loaded'

any suggestions? (sorry to hijack thread )

Fit 21W globes to the repeaters in the bullbar as oppossed to the 5w that are most likely fitted

The trailer indicator is supposed to flash once when the trailer isn't connected. This is to let you know that the system is working.

Re the trailer indicator flashing in sequence with the car indicator. I had this on my '93 Disco with ARB bar. I fixed it by installing relays before the bar indicators (triggered by the car indicators).

Had the same problem, changed wattage as rovercare indicated (pardon the pun) and fixed the problem.

And all you need was a bulb swap

Some repeaters come with 21W some with 5W, just got to get the combo right

You can also use LED equivalent of 21Ws in the repeaters and do the same as the relays without the extra wiring hassles or reduced lux of the 10W globes.

    Ditto

Put 5w globes in - all good. But after reading Slunnie's post I might give 10w's a try and see what happens.

Mine is different to Bushwanderer's description though - the trailer indicator only illiuminates on start up (with all the other sys-check lights) then goes out.

    Cheers
