Getting my son's bike from Albury

Hopefully, we'll be able to collect Bucko's V-Strom from Albury police in the near future.

What I might need is someone in the Albury area who could look at it (if the police allow it) and tell me if it's rideable. If it is, I can catch a train to Albury (free as I work on the railway) and then ride it back to Sydney.

    I've not seen the bike.

Otherwise, I guess it's a drive down with a hired bike trailer to collect it.

Of course, I'm assuming my eye is OK.

Ron, given your eye trouble, the distance and the cold weather, I'd either put it on a train or go and collect it.
Age shall not weary them....but it sure can be a set back

    Cheers,
    Ron

Greetings Ron I tend to agree with Ron ?? in that its a long way to ride if the bike is not %100 theres always the possibility of a hairline crack in the frame or anything. I live near Albury and can arrange to have the bike picked up and delivered to you. Kermit

Thanks, Kermit, for the offer. I know of a couple of AULRO members in Albury. Someone who knows bikes would be great so they'd know what to look for.

Ron, the police are pretty sure Lee was travelling at low speed when he came off. There were no marks on his body and nothing to indicate a high speed off. It looks like he blacked out, ran off the road, then fell off. I'm not worried about the distance. I'm happy to take a couple of days.

If my eye isn't fixed, I wouldn't consider it. However, if my eye isn't fixed I won't be driving either so I'd need to store the bike in Albury for a short while.

    G'day Ron.

If you like I can speak with a supervisor at Albury and ask them of the bikes condition. Might even be able to get them to email some photos so you can decide because it'd be a long way to go to find a busted footpeg or something they missed. I can't promise anything but I'll give it a go. Let me know if you'd like me to enquire.

    Take it easy.

That would be great. I have asked the leader of the tour Lee was tagging along with if he recalls how the bike was. I'll PM my info. The bike is now camouflage, not red. He made a play on words and called it Dessert Strom.
