    Hema Navigator - new toy!

Well just got home with the new Hema Navigator...haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet as the "out of the box" charge on the battery lasted about long enough to set local time, have a quick look at the Route 66 road nav and fire up OziExplorer.

Overall very impressed with the quality, fit and finish of the product (nice box too ). Screen very clear and bright even with the shipping protector on it. Only a Quick Start guide in the box , but R66 manual is on-line. I haven't had Ozi before so will be looking at their manual too .

So forced myself to put it down and get it properly charged, but whipped the SD card out and whacked it into my Logic Gear XL488 and yes to true to their word, all I need to do is reset the application path and I can access Ozi and R66 on the Logic Gear.

Means I can run the Hema in the Disco and the (cheaper) Logic Gear in the Jeep - which will be a lot dustier etc - by just swapping the card over.

And now, back to the QS guide!
    Cheers

For the price i reckon a good pda will do the same and more, my 4 yo ipaq runs ?TomTom and Ozi Ex plus has bluetooth/ wifi etc for less than 1/2 of the cost of the Hema .But it doest look like a good unit "out of the box" that any dummy can use straight away - no offence to anyone who has one .

    Gps

I have just got hold of a cheap chinese import from ebay. Followed a few links and stuff from some forums and it now runs The IGO streetmaps that it came with and i can also have it run oziexplorer from a different menu.
Great little unit, 4.5 inch screen has blue tooth and was only 140 delivered.
The plan is to have 2 sd cards, one with streetmaps and one for oziexplorer.
I am very happy with it so far as 900 was way out of my price range for the one I liked.
that said either the hema unit or the magellan crossover would be my gps of choice
    cheers
