    Coffs Harbour 2008

Here are some pictures from the weekend. I haevnt got time at the mo to right a report so will leave that for someone else!

This hill was steep. Only 4 cars made it up, Eric, Justin, Phillipe and us.

Eric winching everybody up this hill (Justin and Eric winched themselves up) No one managed to drive it. (will link a video later showing why!)

This hill was fairly unpleasant. I left the 90 at the bottom and only the bravest 3 went up. No one made it although all 3 had a good go! have videos too which I will add shortly

There were some other great tracks including the last couple on Sunday afternoon which were awesome, Incredibly slippery. Have a video of this too.

If anyone has any pics of my car (ideally not embarrasing itself somewhere stupid woudl be great to see them

Also big thanks to Rod, for guiding the weekend, and Eric for letting me have a go in his awesome 109!!

    Cheers
    Pete.

    first 3 videos.

First one is Justin on the first undrivable hill (the one where Eric winched every one up. Justin, Eric and I had a few runs at it but no-one got any further than this.

Next is Justin on the very steep hill. Eric was first up this. Braver than me!

and finally for now the very slippy hill at the end of the day... Only 4 cars drove this, and it wasn't down to much more than both lockers and full throttle! Phillipe made it look about the easiest. The rest of us all made it look equally untidy!

Looks awesome...........the hill in the last 6 pics looks familiar......for sadly the wrong reasons......pretty sure that's the hill I busted my tail shaft on last time

Looks like you guys found some cracking tracks, I'm definitely in for the the next trip

Mick, I think, though I may be wrong, that it was a different track to the one where you did your tail shaft.

    Cheers

No not that track Mick but it was harder and steeper than the one you broke your tailshaft on. That said we got 3 vehicles up Erics, mine and Phillipes. The first 2/3rds of the track was deep ruts and tree roots and was a hoot to drive. The last 1/3 was very steep up hill as per the video consisting of very loose rocks and leaves, with large rock faces every now and then. Definately sphincter clenching territory. Was a great feeling once the winch cable was helping the exit.

That said it was another great Coffs trip. Good turn out of different vehicles and another great bunch of people. Many thanks to Rod and Tim and the restof the local Landrover enthusiasts who showed us all the new tracks and also downloaded them to Phillipes laptop. We did some very hard tracks and with great team work and some carefull thought managed to get all the cars and people through with no damage. (other than the odd leach). We all pitched in on the saturday night and cooked up a great BBQ for all including our guides. It proved to be a great success. On the way home Phillipe's laptop was showing us some tracks and places not too far from Tweed so an exploration run will have to be organised. Thanks to all who attended and made the trip a great weekend away.

Different hill Mick, first vid was the 'Powerline Track' (as seen on some Coffs DVDs), second vid is a track called 'Impossible'. Local legend is that it has NEVER been driven.......but we gave it a red hot shot (what the pics and vid does not show is the great bloody big gully and drop off on the left hand side ) Based on the state of the track no one has even attempted it in a long time! Great big wash out ruts at the bottom winding up to loose marbles, rocks steps and tree roots First track in the Pics was called Broken and was the "warm up" form the local boys! Thanks lads

We explored entirely new areas this trip (north of Bucca Rd and the tracks previously explored) and have some tracks mapped that we drove and from the locals.

What a cracking weekend. Thanks to all that attended, Justin for leading and arranging, the local coffs guys (Longstoke - Tim and his dad Rod) for taking the time out to lead us around, and Eric for playing recovery's all weekend (a truly magnificant machine and a credit to you).

I will get some pics up shortly.

PS The 35 Silverstone Extremes took everything i threw at them. Very happy boy

    coffs

What an awesome trip that was,got to thank everyone who attended for being patient and doing what was asked of them during recoveries. It made our jobs a pleasure. Some truly gutsy drives up the harder tracks were very entertaining, especially Peter on the first hill as he was terrified before attemping it.But after a bit of positive reassurance he made it up without a hitch and much more confident for the rest of the trip
Phillipes tyres were just amazing to watch biting in and propelling his disco up near everything he tried, definitly transformed his car
Justin, thanks for leading yet another cracker coffs trip
We shouted the coffs guys and their families a bbq on saturday night for showing us around.talking about the days highlights, was a top night.
Some were still suffering from the killer leeches (Phillipe),I'm sure he lost a litre or two in his ugg boot
There's plenty more stories to be told and some top footage to show,so until then I'll leave it at that.
    Cheers Eric.
