    Vibrations while Towing

    Hi All,
I've got a question regarding a vibration/shudder I recieve throughout the whole car when towing my 2T boat on a dual axle trailer. I have taken it to Land Rover and they are saying it's the Dunbier trailer and vise-versa....
I only get the shuddering from between 20-55Klm/hr and nothing outside of those speeds. It doesn't matter wheather it's up/down hill or on a flat.
I have put the trailer behind a Disco3 (new vehicle), no shudder, but put it behind a LC100 (80K) and I get the shudder????
Any Help would be greatly appreciated...

    Cheers
    Glenn

Try checking the height difference of the tow bar between the 2 cars
Might be just how the position (angle) and weight is distrubuted over the dual axels when hitched

I have only had my 2003 Disco V8 for a couple of months and only realized 3 weeks ago that the Reece hitch tow adapter is actually off a Disco3. Last week I bought a Disco2 hitch adapter and have not tried towing the boat with this hitch yet.
What causes the shudder though? If the angle gradient changes how does this effect the trailer ergonomics?

Tandam trailer wheels are dependant (most setups) on the weight to be evenly distributed

1: If too high // front set floating .... weight on rear set
2: If too low // Front set leading with weight ... Rear set floating

If weight is off the wheels it could be the tyres getting "up a paddy" at certain speeds .. cause they don't run shockies

Also the balance of trailer should be set up so that it is just on "forward heavy" (say 40 to 100 kilo's) .... The trailer is carry the main weight .. not the car

As you know .. some trailers tow like cr#p and others tow like a dream

    It's all trial & error

A mate had a situation like yours, when he towed his trailer behind his car it would shudder, i borrowed his trailer one day to take my bike too the shop and NO shudder at all.

He never found out why, he sold that car and when he hooked up the trailer to his new car, NO shudder, i must say he never changed anything on his previous car or tried to found out what the problem was though.
