Eight Lives Down
Just finished reading a book I really enjoyed. Just thought I would share with you....
Called Eight LIVES DOWN by Chris Hunter
It's Chris's first hand account of his time as an ATO in IRAQ.
ATO = Ammunition Technical Officer
His accounts in diffusing IED's and his experinces give you an insight, I feel in a small way of what it may be like there. Eight Lives Down comes about because the ATO,s are commonly referred to as Felix.
I know we have people on the forum that would have a better idea.
I picked the book up originally as I was attracted by the subject matter. I was hoping to get an insight to Chris's roll in diffusing bombs. My father was an ATO in the British army during the sixties, though I think times have changed. To my knowledge there were not the IED's we see today.
In his day they were still removing and diffusing ordnance from WW2 in the early sixties and then int the late sixties was more the bomb threats in and around London.
Anyhow as a good read I can recommend Eight Lives Down.
