if you dont decide to rebuild i'll have yeh radiator!! and your turbo if its in good order oh and the injectors...even though i think ours are ok doesn't hurt to have spares
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Sorry to here it. My 300Tdi cost over $9K to rebuild 4years ago. You can rebuild both a V8 and the ZF for that money and probably have change. If you can afford to side line the vehicle for a while, you could pick up a 300Tdi roll-over from the auctions for around $2-3k. Just a thought.

Id be carefull buying a diesel engine out of a roll over , A diesel engine will keep running as long as it has fuel(upside down) and that aint good for the bottom when the oil has run away

I believe you can get a brand new 2.8tdi with variable nozzle turbo for around $10k (basically same motor as 300tdi) and it should drop right in. One of the forum members was importing them at one stage.
    JustinC may know more.

Get in touch with M.R. automotive or British offroad they may have a low mileage replacement motor they could ship to you. Assuming the rebuild is too expensive. There is also a isuzu motor on ebay check the td5 into tdi thread for link.

TwoUp was looking into repowering a Defender with an aluminium Detroit Diesel 3-53T. Last I heard Transport Queensland were being difficult. Worth researching.
