Lower case suffix letters?

Hi all just a quicky before I go to work.

The suffix letter on Mongrel appears to be a lowercase (a), I have only seen uppercase letters before.

Any ideas on the letter?

The photo is poor but you can just make out the letter. The vehicle was supposed to be a 67 model but it would appear it could be earlier.

I can see a "3" at the end, and nothing after that. - sorry.

That three you can see is an a, it dosen't go to the same height as the 4 before it, only about half way up.

I'll try and get a better pic and post.

Strange. I can definitely see a full size 3.

i can see the 3 same height as well... maybe it's one of those magic pictures that you tilt your head and squint with one eye while tapping your head
