    ABS block - recall?

Some time ago I remember somebody mentioning (in a discussion based around the 3 amigos?) that there had been a recall (?) for the ABS block on the D2.
...and that following this some part of said block was marked with white dots.
Well I had a look at mine and - no white markings that I can see.

Anyone know any more on this? Which bit of the block should I be looking at or would a June 2001 build be subject to the recall?

Tried search - but obviously couldn't come up with suitable parameters

    Cheers

The recall was to insert two metal discs on top of the ABS unit and this is held by two allen key head bolts each.

If you have not had the recall performed the two discs are held by only a plastic fitting in the centre of the disc ie. the disc pushes on the plastic fittings. The discs can pop off under heavy braking, with HDC and the ABS doing all the work. If this situation occured you lost all braking performance.

If you are unsure that the recall has been performed you could give your VIN number to any LR service agent and they could look up the records for your vehicle.

I received a letter in the mail to inform me of the recall in about 2003. My model is 1999 so I imagine that it covered all models.

They all have that. The mod was to fit additional strengthening plates & longer bolts.

Give your local dealer a call, give him your VIN & he can check if it's been done or if it needs doing.

    3 amigos

I had a lot of trouble with the 3 amigos. I have recently reurmed from Davis performance landys Annangrove, they are gods I am so impressed the local dealer in Dubbo was no help. the guys at Davis landys were brilliant I have been home now for 3 weeks and still no problem the HDC works perfectly the traction control now works on bitumen cause I had the girl upgraded as well, and totally recomend to all. The disco is the car it should be now, no thanks to landrover aust, they should have paid for it.

    I'm confused, (really!)
does all the above mean that I cannot tell (see pic) if my ABS Modulator has had the recall? Or not?

No...you have not had the recall. The new discs are solid and cover the centre black hole.

I had a closer look at mine today and Scouse is correct(and so he should be )

There is an additional solid disc and these would have to use longer bolts.
