    Water tank

Has anyone had any experience with procuring and fitting an underbody water tank for a Disco? I'm in Sydney so would prefer to be around here but not necessary. Are there any traps for the inexperienced here?

    Thanks

I think for underbody you would be hard pressed to get anything better than sill tanks. They are designed for petrol/diesel so I don't think water would be a problem - you just couldn't use second hand ones

4wd monthly usually advertises water tanks that can be sill mounted for the Disco. Sorry I don't have an issue handy to get you the retailer details for you. But it is there every issue

90mm PVC pipe can be p clamped to the body work and I think with 4 tube of it you can make a tank that rides outside the chassis bewteen the wheels that holds something like 40l of water....

I got to 30 with a 2 piece tank under big red before I flicked a rock into the prototype and cracked the tap off.

I have some pics of that arrangement. I took them in Cooma in 1998.

No not me. Sadly I've never been Cooma with the LR show, and definately not in 1998 - I was driving a T****a back then.

This is a vehicle I nearly bought. The owner is a member of this site and I hope he doesn't mind me uploading this picture, but I think that this idea is pretty clever...

Thanks for the responses guys. I will have to have another closer look at 4wd Monthly. I have been to a few sites who claim to do water tanks but noone seems to have a 'standard' Disco design. Thanks for the pic, too. I don't like the idea of all that weight at the front as the truck wanders a bit already and I think it'd make it worse. Like the bash plate though.

I think I may have to make a custom tank. Would like to see your photos, Ron, if its not too much trouble. Dave, how did you fill and empty the tube tanks in your version?

    Cheers
