    which isuzu

i want to get a diesel for my 2a.
Hopefully this isn't one of them "how long is a piece of string" questions.
    Which engine to use?
jackaroo,Isuzu light truck, maybe the old gemini diesel ( sorry for mentioning that car here). As you can see my knowledge of landy diesel is very limited. I have yet to see a landy diesel for sale anywhere so am exploring the options.

Something old and basic is what I want with a view to biodiesel.

I think the 3.9isuzu found in the county might be to big for a 2a but i'm not shore
The jackaroo/rodeo 2.8turbo diesel is a great engine and if you could get it to work right in a 2a it would be great!
Another option to consider is the 200/300tdi discovery motor which would also make a great conversion.

    I have a IIA that I converted to diesel and I also have a 110 county with a 4BD1T.

The IIA has a 2.25D. It is a great little engine, and mine goes better than most 2.25Ps, however the CAV DPA pump isn't very well suited to WVO, but would be fine on biodiesel. You can't get much simpler, and it will bolt straight in.

A (defender) 200 or 300 Tdi will almost bolt straight in, but will kill the gearbox quickly if you aren't VERY gentle with the right foot.

The rodeo 2.8TD (4JB1T) is a great little engine, but you will definitely need a stronger gearbox. There is a company in the UK which seels adaptor plates to most landie gearboxes, but they are around 450GBP from memory.

An ISUZU engine and drivetrain will fit, but you will basically be converting the whole vehicle to Stage 1 spec.

All of the above will run fine on either Bio or WVO (except the CAV DPA as mentioned).

I was all set to pull the 2.25D out of my IIA, and convert it to either a 4JB1T or a 4BD1T. However, once I came to WA, it is so flat over here that I am happy with the performance for most things, and the lighter engine goes much better on the sand than the 4BD1-110.

    would love to

would love to get a 2.25 series engine if I could find one. So far the 2.25 seems to be like the proverbial hens teeth. I can't even find a stuffed one to rebuild.
I'll be patient though there has to be one somewhere.
