Nah Sorry mate Don't know any.![]()
Anyone know some productive trout water in the Vic high country? I prefer a stream but dams are good too. I am keen to throw a line in January - preferably at the end of a 4WD track.

lure, bait or fly?
Fly if possible.
I'm not a fly fisherman but the upper Buffalo, Upper King (above Lake William Hovell around the 'Top Crossing Hut') and Murray Above Tom Groggin can be productive....its all a different ball game since the fires, drought and reduced stocking but you just never know...![]()

Reduced Stocking????
Since our pink/green lot of pollies got in there has not been a single trout stocked into any river unless it's below an impoundment (even the Goulburn only gets a few escapees from Snobs Creek from time to time). The greenies want all of the high country streams to support only natives....which nobody is that interested to catch. That said, there are reasonable pickings in the Dellatite and Rubicon rivers but please, take only what you really have to as they are barely self sustaining fisheries these days.

There are plenty of rivers that hold good stocks of brown trout in the high plains but the better ones are a fair 4wd. (this may be the reason they have good stocks!!). By far the best ones are the Mitta and Cobungra around Anglers rest just on the Mitta Mitta side of Omeo. By far the best river is the Caledonia River which is above Licola. It is a fairly involved 4wd down Buthcher country track into the Caledonia area but the amount and quantity of fish is superb. Even after the fires the population has rebounded quickly and this river is well stocked. Good luck!!!
