    Moving to Brisbane

    G'day

We are moving from Townsville to Bris-vagas and was wondering what are the suburbs to avoid.

One thing is to be fairly close the airport cause I have fly for work.

I've been through brisbane but don't know the suburbs much.

Also price wise in the different areas?

Thanks in advance any help appreciated.

    Cheers Mick

    Ok

Got myself a mining flyin-flyout job and have to be at airport early and a bit of a look at trains and buses there are none so the wife and kids have to drop me off.

Or how cheap is it to leave a car/bike at airport?

not cheap to leave your car at the airport....

renting or buying a house.....budget for both

the airport is on the northside

we are just upgrading our house and will be living in bracken ridge, we reckon the suburb should be alright

i work right next to the airport, 20min good run 30min bad run to get to work at 5:30am.........going home is another story

You need to be looking at an inner northern suburb. Ascot, Hamilton, Hendra, Clayfield, Eagle Junction, Wooloowin, Kalinga, Nundah, Toombul, Wavell Heights, Albion, Windsor, Lutwyche, Kedron, New Farm, Teneriffe, Newstead, Fortitude Valley, Kelvin Grove, Herston. Airport parking is rip-off expensive. Weeds may think of Bracken Ridge as handy, but to old Brisbane residents it is not quite the black stump, but the stump can be seen from there.

Some (many) of these suburbs are really expensive now. You may be able to get in a place in the cheaper ones eg Nundah, Toombul, Wavell Heights for about $400k.

Another alternative to expensive airport parking is the airtrain.

Yeah Budget is no more than $600 Max.

Am I asking to much for a bit of land I've got a 7X9 shed full of all good stuff that I have to take much to the wife's disgust.

And no more than 30min drive time has been the directive.

Mark2 I have looked at the Airtrain and it does not run that early have to be there before 5am for a 6am wheels up.

Return trip is late at night.

It'll be only once a week.

Not too happy about a small plot of land got to have a place for the kids to run plus the shed.

Yep - 5.00 am is too early for air train......

I'm doing fly in/fly out at the moment to and from Mackay out of Brisbane airport. I find it easier to hire a car at the airport when I get off the plane but I'm only home for a couple of days at a time then a week or more away so it works out alright with the hire car.

600k should get you a place within 30mins of the airport without any dramas, particularly at the times you'll be driving. It wont be acreage but should have a big enough yard to fit a decent shed unless its one of the new estates, most of which are tiny.

I'd be looking for something which is fairly close to the Gateway Motorway, and on the Northside if you dont want to pay bridge tolls.
