PERTH to ALICE SPRINGS - 2010An invite to all Series One Landrover owners. The time has come, the moment’s right, this reminder I send again. We’re setting a date, to give you a goal, it’s May 2010.
We’re planning a Trip, to strengthen the bond, and help our fellowship grow.A run from Perth, to Alice Springs, an adventure you’ll love, I know. This challenge we make, is to help to fullfill, and show that your dream can come true.Just finish your project, be ready to start, the rest is up to you. There’s plenty of knowledge, lots of advice, just ask, is what you must do.We’ve done this ourselves, know how you feel, this makes for mates that are true.
Allow 6 to 8 weeks including return, you may leave at any time if you have time restraints, or wish to go further. Note: a lot of travel is on sealed roads. You must carry extra fuel, your own water and food for the journey. We will use Bushcamps and Caravan Parks (camping).
Please reply if you are interested, or would like to be.Norm Wasley. (08) 9258 3341
My friend Norm had sent me this invite so have taken the liberty of posting on ALRO.Please contact Norm to registed interest, details of travel schedule and progress on arrangements.CheersDunno
Thanks Ellard,
I replied on the general but I'll repeat here too.
I'm half keen - not sure if I can get the time off yet - but would also be interested in an east coast to Alice Springs journey to hook up with the Perth guys.
I spoke with Doug just a while ago - I also expressed a general interest in the trip as well.
As we reside in SA we would be considering to meet them on the Gun Barrel Highway.
Its still along way of yet - but if your planning on meeting up with them your welcome to do a stop over in the Flinders Rangers (we are 40km out of Pt Augusta and theres plenty of room) - I have also forwarded this same email to a few interested parties in SA for there consideration.
The biggest problem for most is getting that sort of time of work.
I have his email address and he is going to send me updates for those whom are interested.....
This is a great idea and one that would get me to pull my finger out and get Shorty up and going. As you said - the main issue is getting the time off work.
A group coming from the east coast would also be a good thing.
Just requested my leave for May 2010. I'm still not a definite but would love to take Olute on an adventure. (Wal's thread on his Sydney trip has got me motivated again)
thanks for the bump, i doubt i will have a series 1, although there is one at the end of the street (wonder if he will miss it) but i will be watching this thread with interest as i would be keen to check out all these S1's when you get to the centre, i could be a support vehicle for the eastern states
I'm sure support vehicles would be welcome weeds! (back of the convoy though))
I'll try and make contact with Norm (from the original post) to see how they are progressing.
As mentioned earlier an "all points of the compass" meeting at Alice would be fun.
I reckon 10 days from Melbourne (average 250km per day= 4 hours driving) plus breakdowns and dramas. Maybe Two weeks to get there? Plus leasure days and diversions?
Its great to hear this trip being discussed - I am making no definate plans as of yet but still very much interested.
The invitation is out there for those whom want a stop over in the Flinders Rangers, theres plenty of room for camping, few chops on the BBQ, followed by a few cold ales and if needed vehicle repairs.
