Any good places to get Defender Inspected?

I am looking at a Defender in Artamon in Sydney.
Does anyone know a local place to have it inspected prior to purchase?
I went for a test drive and found a very slight lag in first, followed by a slight clunk in the Rear Diff? before moving off. The same when in reverse.
Has anyone had any experience with this happening in a Defender X-treme?
Once the car yard has it repaired will there be further problems?

Cheers if anyone can assist my enquiry.
    Darren

Drivetrain clonks are fairly common, could be:

    A-arm ball joint
    rear drive flanges
    Gearbox output/t-case input splines

If you search you can find out how to check for each of these and how easy or $$$ they are to fix.

If you are lucky, someone on here may be willing to check it over in return for a cold frothy reward...

I fixed a minor drivetrain clunk (thanks to advice from this forum) by tightening the prop shaft bolts - only 1 was slightly lose - but it totally sorted the issue.

How about NRMA to look at the vehicle?
