    defender and 110 extreme difference

    Hi,
what is the difference between a 110 defender and a 110 defender extreme? As far as i can tell it's TC in the extreme.. anything else?
particularly in the 2005 model td5 if of any importance.

    Thanks

In the 05 model, they didn't actually do an "extreme". They stopped calling them that. For the 05 my they switched back to English build. You can pick them as the tops of the front doors had a round pressing. And of course by the VIN.

The only "extreme" specs were the 110 wagon. The differences were alloy wheels, power front windows, traction control and ABS, remote central locking and alarm, and cloth seats.

    I think that's all.

Thanks for that! The English builds have predominately white roofs, no matter what the colour The SA build ones in 04 had body coloured roofs.

The alarm and remote central arent standard, they are an option BUT most of the later extremes that were bought in had them anyway as thats what people wanted...

mines early and it doesnt have the alarm but does have the remote central module. All I need to do is activate it and get the fobs...

Actually I thought they switched from SA built to UK in 2002. I had an early 2002MY which was South African, followed by a late 02MY which was UK. Since then all the Aussie spec vehicles have come from the UK.

My early 02MY had the "Xtreme" stickers but the late 02MY did not. I was told that the stickers disappeared when they switched back to UK build because Australians generally didn't want them. According to Redbook however, the Australian 110s were still branded Xtreme (with or without stickers) from 1999 up to 2004 (03MY).

From 2004 onwards the only things that changed were external - no bullbar, no snorkel. The base vehicles have all been the same since 2000. All Defenders since at least early 02MY (SA build) have had central locking and alarm only this feature was not activated until 2005. I got key fobs programmed for both my 02MY Defenders - apparently it was not activated because of tax and import duty on cars with these "luxury" features or some-such nonsense.

My 2004 TD5 was South African built. I believe they stopped assembly in South Africa at the end of 2004.
