Look what followed me home, can I keep it......

Well the secrets out i am the proud new custodian of a 49/50 model 80 inch. Went up today for the great saga of picking it up from drumcounsellor in Bundy. Forgot that getting home would take twice as long as getting up there . When i arrived back here i hooked up a battery and threw a few litres of fuel in and topped up the water. Turn of the key and push the button and she barked into life. Only got to back her off the trailer though before i stalled it and the battery was flat. She is spending tonight out the front before i can get a good look over her in the daylight. I think the neighbours might be a bit more forgiving of my starting attempts during daylight hours as well.
Oh BTW managed to destroy a pair of jeans and cut my foot open in the process............its been a long day.
But i have an 80 inch now to keep the lightweight company.
This is a piccy of her from the add.

I've had a quick perusal in the dark while tucking her in for the night.
Amazingly complete down to the D lights . Looks like a little metal cancer in the drivers foot well (size of a couple of 50 cent pieces) center cross member has got a bit as well. Have to sort out a legitimate carby as it has a stromberg on it now. Also need the proper lights through grill, grill. Needs a few dents straightened and the original paint is cactus. Daylight hours for the rest.
    Lots of photos to come.

Congratulations Mick. I was hoping it would still be available when we go to Bundy over Christmas. I was keen to have a look at it.

Good to see it go to a good home!

    Good one Mick

Does it have any distributor identity tags. If Grenville Motors send me the chassis number and I may be able to find a little of it's original history.

    Diana

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

The round things with 5 high tension leads ? Yes there were/are 3 different types, you need the tag to I.D. them.

Sorry, its the water down here .

    - ring pull for 4WD reverse selection
    - Front bumper
    - head light chrome surrounds
    - original carby
    - original oil bath air filter

Well here are some piccys. Took the top off last night and it and the door tops are out in the shed. Here she is in her summer days splendor. You can see the bulkhead rust in two of th photos. Under the windscreen frame and in the footwell.
