Recovery gear reqd when you don't have a winch

    Hiya,

Writing out my Santa list and 4WD gear is at the top of the list (Well, actually tyres are at the top of the list but I've convinced SWMBO that these don't count as Xmas presents).

Don't have a winch. Do have a snatch strap kit, shovel and ax. So what else do I need?

    Maxtracks?
Those roll-out mat things that Bushranger make?
    Hand winch?

    Cheers.

So far it has been but I've had enough anus-clenching moments to know it is inevitable that I'll get stuck one day.

Don't forget some overalls or recovery suit.

Can't have you D3 owners getting those flash threads dirty

    Could mess up the interior

I've been thinking about how to prioritise this kind of stuff as well, especially on a budget.

A hand winch would ensure that you'd get out of pretty much anything, but I can't afford one and all the kit that goes with it at the moment, and they're a fair bit of work if all you need is something like maxtrax. For me, maxtrax would get me out of most of the bogs I'd get stuck in over the next 6 months, and/or a high lift jack. A high lift jack is a great bit of kit per $$$ spent.

So that's how I'm prioritising recovery gear...

A hi-lift is versatile, but where would you mount it on a D3... unless its got a bullbar & rear step from Kaymar et al.
