Anyone bought one of these (Ebay winch)
Gday those more knowledgeable (and who can spell better
) than I
Is this a case of you get what you pay for

I havent got the bull bar on the DII just yet but at 3K for bar and winch must confess this does make one ask questions such as this. Should I just save my pennies and go the 3K version and save the disaster when Im bogged in the middle of SA and it goes BANG when i want it to pull me out of a spot of bother

My Milemarker came off Ebay for around $600 from memory and it's been pretty good, better now that ive fixed a cabling problem and fitted a better battery.
There are a couple of people on here with Aldi winches that work ok and I'd imagine that it would do the normal things and give warnings as to when it would fail.
My mate whose an auto elec recently pulled a brawn (identical to mine other than an upgraded seal apparently) appart to have a look at what it was like in comparison to his warn and Ox winches hes had over the years and he recons that as long as they are run every now and then to get them warm and keep the brushes and armature clean then there isnt much wrong with them.
My soloniods play up every now and then but you would expect they are cheap and should probably be replaced by good ones when they crap them selves anyway.
I just give mine a whack and away they go, if one completely dies I will just swap it with one of the others and replace them when I can, not a biggy really.

china winch
I have one, diffent ebay seller but same looking winch. Haven't brocken it yet and have used it. Nothing as serious as mud to the floor pan....... I stripped it and checked it before install. packed with grease and filed some gears to clean them up. Gears don't inspire confidence>>> replaced the solenoids with single sealed model(forget brand) and plasma rope. I am very careful with it and use multiple snatch blocks where required. Hopefully lasts...
