    the defender loaded

    Hi all,
the 130 just took a tank of b100 already smelling like a mobile chipshop after 78km's any pointers that you guys have noticed for 300 tdi?
never had a drama with it in the yuck patrol.
Although i did over fill it and had the stuff ****ing all over the place is there a thing in the standard tank that will cope with an over fill like an overflow ???
will let you know how i go after 2.500 km's

    Hey mate

Good to see you have come to your senses and bought a real 4x4 hehehe, I have been running my Disco 300 tdi on B100 for 6 years now with no problems. My mate has been making Bio for 10 years now. He has also been running his TD5 on B100 for 12months now with no problems.

How many times do you crack the oil, do you wash and dry the fuel.

    Cheers

He has also been running his TD5 on B100 for 12months now with no problems. ......I thought they all turned into toyota land cruisers when you put b100 in em???
You know the normal bull**** that gets spouted around ...on the forum etc i was under the impression that td5's didn't like it because they didn't sense the fuel right, because its all driven by a p.c. ????
not that i would ever buy a td5 as its all tech stuff i have no interest, my interest is series, disco, but especially 300tdi defender so chuffed i got one...so tell me what is the go with the sedimenter by the tank and it's relation to bio, for two weeks a year in perth we get waxing so will that block that up as well as the fuel filter?
now after 2500km as you know it is likely that a vehicle run on dino will stop with the **** that blocks the fuel filter ...no hand primer on defender so what do you do ???
I was thinking prime the new one with bio and wack it on and fill the system off the crank !!! is this right
    regards andy

    Hey Andy

The sedimenter is the same as in the Disco's they are there to catch water and any c#*p from the tank, it'll probably get a little a workout as the Bio cleans the system out, just keep checking it every so often and clean it.

You say you don't have a primer pump, in the Disco 300 TDI it is on the side of the mech pump that is on the side of the block just below and back a bit from the injector pump. I'll try and get a photo for you.

The waxing you talk about, is it a dark brown colour, if so it is probably glycerin, no problem if only small amount, to check just pull the sedimenter out and wash in water, if it's glycerin then it should wash out easy.

You say your car smells like chips, that is probably because there is still some uncracked oil in the Bio.

How many times do you crack the oil.

    Cheers

What effect on economy, and power does running B100 have on the 300Tdi

Is it ok to run veg oil? iv heard of some people putting 2/3 diesel in then topping it up with veg oil?

new veg oil should not be a problem, I have heard the biggest problem with used oils is the PH levels, but properly treated & filltered used oil is all that b100 is. ( this is from research not exp)
I am looking at going to bio & gas on my Td5 in the near future, I will let you know how it goes

mate in my experience of using b100 derived from used veg oil and the other ingredients you get a economy, it stops your motor smoking seems to decoke the injectors, i would not suggest just pouring in veg oil straight as i have not gone down that root also what about filtration
bio has a higher setane (diesel octane) than dino fuel so you should get a better bang to your buck

You're right Bio is higher Cetane... But has less calourific value...

So its ignition point is higher, but the energy expended in the explosion is less....

Range and Power will be reduced on Bio... Its just the way it is for now (maybe technology will catch up)
