Rust spots on 2005 110

Hi,
upon close inspection on the paintwork recently found lots of small rust spots over the paintwork on the outside. some the size of the dots ...... some half the size. its a 2005 model - spoke to LR - because no annual LR rust checks were done its not covered. damn. this seems to be on top of the paintwork. could it just be some mineral trace in the rain maybe caused it? tried washing it off no luck.
any suggestions?

Try a bit of regular car polish first & see if that shifts it.
If not, try a cutting polish like T Cut or similar.

Could it maybe be casued by metal dust, say grinding sparks...?
