    Cool Aussie makers of new chassis for Ser III??

    Anyone know of an Aussie manufacturer of new chassis for Land Rovers?? I have a Series III Stage 1 v8 ute, It needs a new chassis. I'd prefer a galvanised chassis (I could get greedy and hope for a front coil spring upgrade!).

    I don't want to chop up my other Ser III ute (2.6L 6cyl) to make one good one if I can help it!

    1. This is posted in the wrong forum - nothing to do with Communications, Car Audio and Electronics.

    2. As far as I know, there is nobody in Australia making replacement chassis for Landrovers. It will be a matter of using another chassis, repairing the existing one, or importing one from the UK.

    To my knowledge there is no manufacturer in Australia
    Even in the UK you would be lucky to get a new galv one today.
    Buy yourself one on ebay and change the chassis over, the Stage 1 has a modified Santana Chassis so its not that common.

    import chassis

    Richards Chassis Land Rover chassis manufacturer, LandRover have gal chassis ad in Land Rover monthly. About 1600 pounds plus freight could be looking at $5000 or more, expensive exercise.
    As much as i hate to say it the sacrificial car may be the way to go.
    my son is a boilermaker i'm thinking of chucking the chassis plan from the manual at him and see what he says. probably wont be anything nice though

    ^^^ x2

    I looked at the UK import option a while back probably about 4 grand plus taxes - (mind you the exchange rate was a bit better then!) ended up buying a donor vehicle for $400 -- bit more work but ends up a lot cheaper.( and you get lots of other bits too!)

    As for a stage 1 chasssis - as mentioned, they are a bit rarer. Perhaps you could alter a Ser 2/3 chassis. Not sure what is involved though.
