    M42 lenses

Does anyone here use the older M42 screw mounts with their digital cameras? If so, what lenses do you have?

    Yes,

I've got a couple of old 50mm lenses

    Yashica 50mm 1:1.9 and
    Pentacon 50mm 1:1.8

use them on a Pentax K10D with adaptor.

Is this the Praktica/Pentax screw mount? I suppose I could measure and gauge mine to be sure. I have a 400mm Novoflex, pistol grip focus. I have two Praktica, a IVB with inbuilt exposure meter (not TTL) from 1962, and a late model with TTL meter and 1/1000 shutter. Both bodies need repair. Will give to a good home. Open to offers on the Novoflex.

Yep, also refered to as the Pentax screw mount. Zenit also used the same mount, hence the russian lenes also have the same mount. The adapter can purchased for most Digital SLR cameras. Thpough the lenses an only be used in Apeture priority or manual. These early lenses really do impart a character all of thier own.

The Novoflex were an interesting lens as they often came with an interchangable front element that took them from 400mm to 600mm. Leica produced a 400mm head replacement for the lens which improved the optics significantly. Interestingly, Novaflex was used by the photographer who took the photos of Campbell and the Bluebird as he broke the land speed record and then flipped and got killed. (Send you a PM)

Donald Campbell was killed on Conistan Waters during his attempt to break the water speed record in 1967, so may be a Novaflex took picture of that.
