Post Dual mass flywheel inspection td5130

Hi all, Being the long weekend i have taken the time to replace my release bearing and clutch. I have never come across a dual mass flywheel before therefore would like some help as to what to look for in the way of wear etc.

The 130 has down 200k noot sure about the service history prior to me owning it. The release being was noisy, so replaceing it and the clutch as a matter of coarse.

I had no clutch shudder to speak of. There is no grooves in the flywheel. What else should i look for???.

Any assistance would be great. Thanks Enjoy the weekend.

when i replaced mine, with 27thou on the clock there was 3/4'' or rotation between the clutch face of the DMF and its body? apparently this is a bit too much and 3/8'' is more acceptable. most places say if you were to replace the clutch plate you should also do the DMF and pressure plate also? if it were me and mine had your k's ide do the lot, just for piece of mind.

if you want to keep it have a look at the friction surface for discolouration be it spots or stripes, this is not good and will get worse and cause clutch slip under load.

all of that ^ plus check the actual clamping part for both radial, lateral and longitudinal runout. (can you pry it so that it tilts, can you push the center off axis and can you push or pull the center away from the rest).

    Hi all

I have inspected the flywheel, the radial play is about 1/8 of a turn and there is a couple of spots but nothing major, Checked my laterial run out and that seems ok.

I have decided to leave it as it is. I think i will be up for a gearbox replacement in the next 50k so i will reinspect at that point.

Thanks for all your help, The rover is back on the road today.

    Cheers
