    Tools list

I was wondering if anyone has put together a list of tools that are worth buying, collecting and carrying most of the time, in the tool box, under the drivers seat of your defender? Maybe there is a list elsewhere on the forums, that i have missed? Some tools are specific to expedition requirements, some are job specific, and replace the functions of about 6 other tools. Recovery equiment would be in a seperate list, eccept for items which may overlap both lists, like a high lift jack. thanks in advance.

You've just reminded me where I put that shifter and maybe even the side cutters I've misplaced!

The hub spanner is available from most rover part places, I got one through Roverparts in Ballarat.

i have a tool bag full of an arrangement of tools, full set of OE/Ring, screw drivers, sockets, plyers, shifters, hub nut spanner etc, the one spanner i was missing one time was a 12mm or 1/2in to remove the brake caliper bolts, it was a bit of a walk back to the campsite, i now have a set of brake line spanner as well

that should give you a heads up, what you carry will depend on what your comfortable trying to fix on the side of the road. let us know what level of driving your aiming at (touring city to city, or serious off road in the middle of no-where get you dead if it dies type travelling) and how much "trouble" you want to be able to get out of and we can be a bit more helpful.
