    110 Defender storage Ideas

    Hi all, with my few weeks in Tassie coming up in March I am trying to sort out some "Hassle free" storage ideas. I have the normal setup in the rear with a piece of carpeted board that sits over the wheel archers and that is fine. I have removed the rear seat, and am toying with the idea of making another parcel shelf that sits where the seat used to go to sit the engel on, to make it easier to get to being lower down.

    I was wondering if anyone has done a simular setup, and how did you go about it. I still have the cargo barrier in place too.

    Any ideas would be appreciated

    Just put it in the back of our 130 and take us with you, we only live in Melbourne so it's on the way problem solved!!
    Promise we don't eat much!!

    you are most welcome to come along the more the merrier, so far only some of the tassie members are coming along we need some more intrest from the mainland crew. Cheap boat rides for you and your landy at the moment too.

    I have roller draws, with seats removed and bed extension, with my engle sitting in the footwell flush with the bed top. Neat and out of the way, plus easy to get to.

    I did one that sits behind the driver. After the removal of the seat I made a frame out of 1 " RHS and made a platform from chip board the same level as the back wheel arch panels. To the front of the frame I have a section of board going vertical for probably 300 mm then flat / horizontal till it abuts up against the rear of the seat in its rear position. I have a 50 l waeco on it and I put my camera on the higher bit. I can send a photo of it if you email me. It bolts onto the existing seat brackets at the floor level and the seat belt anchor behind the seat. It has been in a 300 tdi and a td5. It is the same level as the false floor on top of the drawer system. It can be removed in about 10 mins and the seat reinstalled.

    You could try the aircraft style cargo rails with the interlocking lash points. ARB and OL sell them, ARB were marginally cheaper when I last checked.

    I have them in my cargo area and can lash stuff down. In the back I also lash things from the storage box top to the cargo barrier (ie swags, bags etc), then I can lash another layer of bags against it back to the cargo barrier (using okky straps). That way I can pack high, but still have space in front of me when I open the rear door and nothings fallen or rolled out.

    If you put these in your back seat floor space, then you can secure stuff there for the trip, without having to build any frames etc. The cargo rails can remain in place for future use even after you put the seats back in.

    110 Wagon storage

    G'day,

    In two previous Deefer wagons (98 TDi and 02 TD5 Xtreme) I used thick MDF to knock up two sections to turn the rear of the wagon into a bed.

    The first section was level with the wheel arches and the supporting cross pieces were opened up to allow storage underneath (hi lift, jerries etc etc).

    The second fitted in where the rear seats are. It was supposed to be just a very quick solution (had grander plans to replace it) but survived from 98 through to 04. Took less than an hour with a psycho jigsaw and a bunch of MDF screws/aquadere.

    Best thing about it was a double bed foam mattress fitted in just right. During the day the fridge and assorted gear sat on the deck, and this was turfed out under the truck at night.
