    Urgent! Sell your Land Rovers!

WITHOUT any warning, as we were on an exit ramp from a highway, we smelled something like burning electrical.
The smell got REALLY bad in a matter of seconds. I pulled over to the side of the road and there was smoke billowing out from under the hood. We RAN from the vehicle as I noticed the right side of the hood (Bonnet-passenger side) that the paint was melting off the metal. In less than 1 minute the vehicle was TOTALLY engulfed in fire.
Vehicle was obviously a total loss. Definitely started near the main electrical box near the battery.

History: 2001 Range Rover HS. NOTHING wrong, everything working fine, NO indication whatsoever something like this
could happen. Up to this day, the vehicle has been one of the most reliable I have owned !

PLEASE: ALL of you. SELL your Range Rover's. We have never been so scared in all our lives. We could have died today !
PLEASE: For the safety of you and your loved ones. GET RID OF IT. I will NEVER purchase another Land Rover vehicle as long as I live.
    PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

The only vehicle I have ever had catch fire on me was a '93 LandCruiser Troopie...

Admittedly, it was an Ambulance and so it had a lot of additionally wiring in it, much of it of questionable integrity...

    Marshmallows anyone?

Think the main problem is that he is American/lives there.

    Litigation society par excellence!

Got rear ended once by a Renault Espace whilst driving a Peugoet 309. Five minutes later the Renault was burning, completely gutted out.

Apparenty the Espace is renowned for bursting into flames after an accident. So sell your Renaults folks.

Chances are the same could be said for most mass car producers, so lets all go back to horses and carts!

    Regards

    Brendan

Assuming we all just sold our combustible LRs wouldn't we just be signing someone else's death certificate?

Maybe we should have them all crushed?
