    Freezer Tech/Repairs?

    Any fridge techs (Rick???)

I bought a cheap 140L tuckerbox (simpson/westinghouse) freezer (nfi when it was built).

Tested before I forked over the cash - ran fine and chilled quickly.

Took it home (kept it upright) left it sit for a week while we cleaned the inside with chlorine, moved it to the final location, left it sit for 3 days, then turned it on. The compressor doesn't run, but it seems to draw power.

Any ideas??? Is there a fuse to check. Anything else I can check/do?

They are as basic as they come Ben.

There is a t/stat, probably a power LED and the compressor which has a basic current type relay.

Can you hear any 'buzz' then a 'click' ?
If not, that's good. If you can, the compressor isn't starting (stalled) and is tripping out on the overload. If the compressor is stalled, it could be a dodgy relay, (either not pulling in to power the start winding or the points are stuffed) or it's seized.

The next step is just basic testing with a multi-meter, seeing if you have a circuit from the active pin on the plug through the t/stat to the compressor and checking the run and start winding resistances.

Thanks Rick. It did make a noise then stop (buzz).

However - I tried it again late last night, and it works!!!
