Just gathering some info...
Is there anyone that lives in Australia who has never been to the ocean/beach?
Not necessarily with their Landy, but I'm sure everyone that went, went on their Land Rover
If you have any pictures, that would be great!
Believe it or not, there are a lot of people here (where I am) in USA that have lived 40 or so years of there life and never even bothered going to the ocean living two hours away from it
Thanks in advance for your input!

There are lots of kids that have never seen the beach/ocean, the Bernardo foundation (Orphanage SP?)used to take kids from the country areas on trips to the coast on a very regular basis, I went to school with a lot of these kids when I lived in Moree.

As Pedro says, most Australians live very close to the sea. But this does not necessarily mean they get there - believe it or not there are quite a few who do very little travel at all, and it is quite possible that some of these, although living close to the sea, have never seen it.
On the other hand, when I was working in Central Australia forty years ago, I met a ten year old who had never seen rain - and there were probably a few more of them about as well.
In a similar vein, when I was working in the Longreach area in the early sixties, some of the blokes took a local employee to Brisbane with them on a crew break - he had never been to the coast. he famously stood looking off the Victoria Bridge over the Brisbane river, then turned round to the blokes showing him round and asked "Does it dry up after the wet?"

Maybe I was wrong, but thanks for your input everyone! What about some pictures of your Rovers on the beach? If anyone has any.
Thanks again!![]()
No stretch of the imagination there, my housemate when working at St Vincent's Hospital NYC had a colleague, in her late 50s, who had never even left Manhattan!
Not on a beach, but this is a pic of an 80" on a sand dune in about 1968 with me standing on a beach taking the pic with a Polaroid camera.
