D2 V8 Maf , Scangauge and Maf cleaner

Finally worked out that Maf was the running problem - only 5,000km old (no power, backfires)
    Hooked the scangauge up
Looked for open/closed loops - appeared to working ok
    No faults logged
Disconnect maf - car running well, no dip in revs when free revving (car in park)
Hooked maf back up - problem still present
    Removed suspect maf
Put on a old maf which had been backfired thru - cleaned it first with Maf cleaner
Fault logged as maf - cleared fault
Went for a spin, car fixed
Amazing that the Maf cleaner appears to have improved the old maf previously backfired thru
I have about 4 genuine mafs which I had removed due to lpg backfires (result of lpg installer incorrectly installing the injector sequences - that's another story).
So - Scangauge was helpful and I'd recommend some Maf cleaner, available at Supercheap for $23 from memory.

I clean the MAF in my TD5 whenever it starts to get hesitation - sometimes 2K kms and other times 20K kms between cleans.
