i'm thinking of uprating my salibury rear axle and flanges for hi-tuff or similar, i'm assuming its fairly simple to replace the original items with the upgraded ones?, do you need to modify the diff centre?
Thanks in advance
cheers
Adrian

Just done this in my 98 defender.the vehicle is now trim taut and terrific and an absolute pleasure to drive. Also replaced steering damper.
Hadn't realized how slack things had been getting.

Mary
I just did axles and flanges

This is a copy of the Instructions from when I upgraded my flanges a few months ago.
Hope this helps...

no need to modify the center, Hi Tough Eng. axles and flanges are drop in replacements.
you may want to ditch the oil seal and let the wheel bearings run in oil.

replaced mine -rears about 1 month ago and same as those above backlash reduced dramatically, also converted to oil bathed bearings. If you dont do the oil seal thingy its realy quick, -Minutes litraly, removing the seal takes a bit more time and mess. remember to replace the gasket on the new flanges, does not come with the kit but very cheap.
