What Springs for 07 Defender?

OK I think we have now put to many extras on the car for he standard springs

What to do???

I don't really want to lift the car as it only just fits into most carparks and I don't really want to put springs on that will limit our travel.

I would like to in the future put on long throw shocks, front shock towers and I will shortly have a set of PSimpsons relocating cones

Are the genuine LR HD Springs as good or better that after market ones?? Or what other brands have people gone for?

The LR HD springs are good and you will probably find they are also cheaper than a lot of others. When I fitted the ARB bar and winch this dropped the front end and made the handling rather ordinary until I got the new springs in, now its back to what it was before.

If you're putting in long throw shocks, etc. I take it that means you've also removed the sway bars. So was there any change in handling on the road?

Just an aside, the LR HD springs are handed, the standard Puma ones not handed and are identical (part number) to the LH spring of a Tdi/Td5.

I haven't removed the sway bars yet, but my plan would be to do this when doing serious 4wding and to keep them connected for road driving.

"Handed" What does this mean???

Handed means the spring rates a different for left and right hand sides. This is usually to compensate for the weight distribution in the engine bay - or as some might say the weight of the driver

If you do start to look at quick disconnects please post up details as it's something to consider in the future.

As for the Cape, enjoy it and I hope you all have a great time. It's given me a few weeks extra on my leave and I'm now discovering I will need it. Who knows we may meet on the road somewhere. I'll be in Townsville in the first week of July getting the Puma serviced.

Stick with the Landrover option. I did a lift (2inch) by ARB and had all sorts of trans noises. Service sugested front propshaft angle as cause. As I no longer had the original springs had to cough for four new ones from LR. Noise gone. I also noticed when cornering at times traction control would rattle away. ARB in Midland gave me refund for springs and they think it may be the computers on new vehicals may have a problem with mods like lift kits. They stated a 2inch lift on a jeep causes the vehicle to vibrate so badly you cant drive it. Hope this helps, nerrly cost me a lot off money
