Sounds like you need Castrol Syntrans. It is the oil recommended for R380 gearboxes as well. A search should provide a lot of answers and alternatives.

						Alright peoples,
So I'm pretty sure I need to change the gearbox oil on me TD4 so I had a little look-see in the ole' manual. "Texaco MTF94" it says, but the man at Carbitz has never heard of texaco let alone MTF94, "refer to dealer" is the return so off I go and refer to the dealer. Now Mr dealer says, "syntrans MTF94 is what you need" but i'm pretty sure if it were commonplace Mr Carbitz would have known about it, wouldn't you think? So my question to all you knowledgable folk is, "what do you TD4 owners put in your gearbox to keep her quiet?"
Stay tuned the story will be continued in the next post below....

Matplat - I think you need a new Mr Carbitz. The Handbook you are using is obviously the Brit version - as someone else has indicated - Texaco is Caltex. Caltex MTF 94 is a bit hard to find these days but Caltex distibutors probably still have some.
Anyway - Castrol Syntrans is the go. If not available at Mr Carbitz you can buy it at your local Castrol Distributor.

Thanks everyone, I have had a chat with the boys at british off road and they are familiar with syntrans so I shall stop in there on the weekend and that should quieten things a bit.
