Chris
This is what I use, and I thank Uncle Ho for sending it to me...
Engine: Penrite 20w-50
Gearbox: EP 80w-90 (I use Castrol)
Transfer: EP 80w-90
Diffs:F&R: EP 80w-90
Steering Box: EP 80w-90
Swivelhousings: EP 80w-90
Steering Relay: EP 80w-90
I am going to replace all the fluids in my S2a on the weekend and I am wondering what oils and other fluids people are using in their Landys.
Cheers
Chris

Technically, you are only supposed to use GL4 oils in the box and t-case, as the extra EP additives in GL5 oils can damage bronze bushes and synchros.
However, I usually just use whatever I have handy, as the box has been rebuilt with newer bits which should be GL5-proof.
Engine: Penrite Light Diesel or Castrol RX Super (2.25D)
Box: Castrol VMX80 (GL4) or generic 80W90 (GL5)
T-case: 80W90
Front diff, swivels and steering box: 80W90
Rear (Salisbury) Diff: 85W120
My Series Land Rovers get Penrite products.
The gearbox in particular gets "Mild EP" gear oil.
early swivels including the Series 2 when you don't know if Railco bushes are fitted should also have a GL4 or earlier spec oil because of the bronze cone and the bronze bush in the stub axles.

I just did my R380/Transfer case/ Diffswith the following:
R380: Castrol Syntrans 75W-85
Transfer Case: Castrol Syntrax 75W-90
Diffs: Castrol Syntrax 75W-90
The gear changes have NEVER been so good, smooth as silk, can't even feel it "pop" through the synchro, and the transfer case has never been so quiet, I can even hear the tyre noise now.
It's a '04 Defender 130.

Thanks for the replies guys. I will be changing all the fluids in Woody on the weekend. So I am hoping that his break booster comes back from being reco'd tomorrow so I can get him going for the long weekend camping trip to the family farm.
Thanks again
Chris
