    Second Battery for D3

    Hey all,
I have just fitted a second battery system (RedArc) to my Disco3. I can only find a 66A/H battery to fit into the factory fitted second battery box. Maximum size is only L260mm-H210mm-W180mm. Would like a 80 or 100 A/H. Any ideas or experience with this prob ???
    Cheers

Hi Drover, do a search and you will find quite a bit of info about the batteries that best fit in the D3/RRS Auxiliary battery compartment.

Here's a link to a recent thread on the subject.

I just fitted one of these...Supercharge Batteries - Car Batteries, Maintenance, Expanded Grid Technology

Fits perfectly with some minor work to the standard LR bracket (ie hammer/vice).

What I fitted too. American screwdriver work too.
If you want an 80AH the Varta with modification is the way to go.

Well I got my Traxide kit so tomorrow it's off to but the 2nd battery.

Hopefully the Varta or similar will be available.. for a reasonable price.

Thanks all for the information on what fits (even with a little minor adjustments).

    Cheers,
    AP

I just ordered a D34 Optima from batteriesdirect.com.au for $316 + 20.00 freight, their ads appear on the google links at the bottom of the page. They are currently having a 20% off sale.

I ordered a D34 from Batteries direct on Friday morning after realising the cheaper option I went with wan't happy charging at 14.5V(major venting).

Friday afternoon it arrived, and it was swapped in later that afternoon (I was working from home).

    Great Service from Batteries direct.

    Which battery did you get?
No venting on mine at all. (Amptech) and Varta technical specs say theirs should br ok.

i can recomend caterpillar batteries 5 year pro rata warranty for a car or 4wd lots of cold crank amps (i dont know how it compares to amp hours) limited sizes though and well priced for what you get they cough up quickly if you need a warranty claim
