    17" Aftermarket Alloy Rims

    Aside from genuine LR rims are there any other manufactures of rims that are weight rated for a D3 and will fit?

    I was looking at the cheep prices for secondhand BMW X5 rims and just wondering if they are ok for my TDV6? I know the PCD is the same at 120mm and 5 stud but as for the rest?

    Performance Wheels BB6 comes in a 17x8 for the D3.

    Weight rating is higher than that required.

    Yes, 1400kg. Much cheaper than the LR 17x7s.

    I have some for when my D3 eventuates. They use 60 degree taper nuts which on the D2 only uses about 6 threads compared with LR nuts of about 10 and my research suggests the same situation on a D3. I plan to enlarge the holes to take LR nuts but as the rim is only 16mm thick, LR nuts are too long by about 5mm so I'll get shorter/shortened aftermarket nuts.

    I haven't determined if the hub diameter (73mm) is the same as the D3 but they do fit. Even though they use taper bolts on the X5, they rely on the hub to centre the rim, not the bolts.

    I got the following from LR in 2004 and got some 18" RR rims only to find 2004 RR rims fowl the brake calipers, so I am a bit cautious about getting burnt again.

    Offset = 53mm
    Stud (M14 x1.5) hole (x5) PCD = 120
    Mounting face diameter = 163
    Spigot bore diameter = 72.63/72.56 (for a vehicle spigot diameter of 72.5/72.47)

    From the above info Graeme, a 73mm diameter will be fine.
    RMP, the 1400kg rating, are you referring to the BB6's that Jamo mentioned or BMW X5?

    Thanks All

    1400kg on the BB-6s, stamped on it. I doubt the X5 rims would be anywhere close. Personally why bother with the X5 rims and modifying them when the Performances are available? You don't want to be messing with rims in general and particularly for insurance/roadworthy purposes.

    I forgot to mention that X5 rims are 40 mm offset, so sit a little wider than LR but as they're 7.5" wide, they don't protrude as far as the 8" steel rims.

    That would depend on the offset of the steels, and more importantly, the width of the tyre.

    I based my measurements on the reported 38 mm offset of an 8" rim that's available for the D3 which puts its outer edge 9 mm further out than the X5. That info may or may not be correct.
