hi or lo range?
there was an issue with the earlier td5 and there accelerators being 2way? where as the later ones are 3 way?
one of the techier types will be able to tell you what the issue was.

Finally got the 130 out of the shed today, still a work in progress but slowerly getting there.
Anyway, at low speed particularly on rough terrain it seems to be very jerky. Is this a standard thing or does the vehicle need a looking at? I seem to have trouble keeping it steadly going along at low speed without it jumping and lurching.
If it helps, it's a 1999 TD5.

it's in high range, havn't tested in low range yet. It was simply driving around the paddock, but similar happened on the road.
Does something like an ECU upgrade help? Looking at Triumph Rover upgrades from Adelaide, would this help the issue?
try it in lo range first, its supposed to de sensatise the throttle response. i think you can change to the newer 3 way throttle and change it in the ECU with a nanocom or simillar.
dont know if the upgrade will fix it or not.

I have a '99 Defender Td5 Xtreme, and one thing I really dislike on it is the response and jerkiness of the electronic throttle, in high and low range. I haven't had the Defender all that long, but I'm guessing that it is a common problem with this model.
I also find that the throttle is very slow to respond when giving it a quick 'jab' on a down change too.
Overall, I like driving the Defender, but my Isuzu County is soooooo much better.

Gave Triumph Rover a call, said nothing could be done.
But...Rover Parts in Ballarat think that there is a way to fix the electronic sensor linked to the accelerator. But I need to get the vehicle upto Ballarat (from Hamilton) to have them have a look.
pm tombie2 or justinc.
they should know.
