Need help with my old Bonnie

Hi All

Ive posted before about my Triumph T140 Bonneville and got some really good advice but this one might be difficult for ou to answer.

I'm looking for a mechanic to do some work on my bike here in WA. Does anyone know of a discussion forum for older bikes or somewhere I can post a message? Google is letting me down today.

I'll have a look in my Data base at work who I deal with over there. I know quiet a few owners so I might be able to ask a few of them. What sort of work do you need done?

I have a mate who's a Triumph nut (and bolt), restores them, builds them ...what's your problem and I'll pass it on ... before Pub o'clock on Friday would be good 'cause that's when he turns up on one of his Triumphs ... or PM me.

But they are hard to get to, for being "officially" open ... Best time is most probably "Saturday" ... or between 12 & 5 Wednesday to Saturday

Talking of old English bikes - went out the front of the office in Femantle yesterday for a smoke, and there was a bloke in his 70's there with his fully restored BSA Lightning Clubman. He's a bit of a collector and was telling me of a few other bikes he has / has previously had.

The BSA was probably one of the best restorations I've seen in a long time, and was a pleasure to hear when he started it up to go home. Sounded like a proper motor cycle, not a thumping great compressor or a screaming rice burner.

My problems are not that great. it just needs a full service but there is a charging issue, the battery is cactus but that's not the problem, it's a result of the problem. I suspect it's the loom not the alternator.

Also, idiot here went and stripped the sump plug didn't he? he could not get his head around which way to turn the upside down plug with a socket wrench.

Added to that I am going to buy myself some new header pipes purely for cosmetic reasons out of Kevin Rudd's money.

So yeah some little jobs that'll probably add up to a bit but nothing major in themselves.

For new pipes - try Staintune. Beautifully hand made in Mittagong of stainless steel. Works of art. I've got a pair on my Thruxton and they sound brilliant. Deep and almost loud, but not like "Harley" loud.
